And The Winner Is....

When Tasha Herrgott from Red Bird Hills and I discussed the idea of 'Be THE ONE- A Picture Perfect Wedding Giveaway', we had no idea the Giveaway would bring so many fun and touching submissions.  How to choose would prove to be a tough decision filled with quite a few conversations to get us down to three fabulously engaged couples.  When it came down to the final selection, we simply could not get past a wedding that will bring us to lovely Iowa next October to Backbone State Park.  Tasha will take some fabulous photos of course, and I will be rocking out the planning and design portions with our lovely couple's inspiring ideas. 

We have to say a HUGE thank you to all of the couples that submitted their photos and stories- we sincerely enjoyed reading each and every one and know that each wedding day will be spectacular with the amount of love expressed in each submission!

A very special place to us is Backbone State Park. In fact Tony proposed there surrounded by wild flowers, towering trees, and our wonder little Corgi dogs. Backbone State Park was dedicated in 1920. It is Iowa's first state park and is named for its narrow and steep ridge the "Devil's Backbone". Many of Backbone's beautiful stone buildings were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC was established as an effort to provide work for unemployed Americans during the Great Depression. Due to the strong Iowa history, the breathtaking landscape, and personal history we have chose to plan a wedding weekend there. The park has 16 lovely cabins we are hoping to pack with 96 of our closest family and friends. We want to give everyone a little weekend getaway filled with slumber parties, smores, and smiles. My fiancé says he wants it to feel like a family reunion we just happen to have a wedding at. Some specific details include:

An outdoor ceremony located on a large stone compass. This will symbolized direction and guidance in our marriage through each other, family, and friends.

An ice cream social in lieu of cocktail hour.

A tented dinner located on the sandy beach. One example of a unique dinner decoration we have been blessed to receive are 60 empty WELCH (our married name) jelly jars. Although we still are in need of creative ideas of how to use them.

A passionate wedding celebration and dance located in the stunning stone beach lodge just up the hill from the beach shore.

We know what kind of wedding we want. Although how to create it, we are at a loss. Competing with the shear flawlessness of Mother Nature to create a complimentary wedding is panning out to be harder than we expected. Although we do know we do not want a “typical, cookies cutter, etiquette book” type wedding.

Congratulations Nikki and Tony, we cannot wait to be a part of your very special day!

Dreaming in Tiffany {Inspiration}

Even if you aren't wearing Tiffany on a certain ring finger doesn't mean you can't fall in love with this room at the St. Regis Hotel.  So often we go beyond the traditional inspiration of weddings and look at textures, colours, and lifestyle decor to create some amazing wedding day concepts.  This and Audrey may just be the icing on our macaroons.

Dream to Reality {La Finale}

We wanted to show our final lasting images from our Dream to Reality shoot with our talented vendors.  These photos, to be completely honest, blew me away as it really was the first initial images in my mind when Tasha and I first chatted about this shoot {I mean strings of lights?? YES!!!}.  Once again, she completely left me speechless creating this fantastic imagery that reminded me again of why I so love what we do!

Where Have We Been?

Wedding season is fully upon us with five weddings in the past five weeks.  From florals to planning, not to mention trying to work on the new Boutique, we have been busy!  So busy, in fact, we know that we have been neglecting your need of some serious Simply Fabulous dosage.

We promise to update you this week with some REALLY fabulous and exciting news about progress on the new shop, a *little* event we are putting together, and some lovely items we are adding to our boutique collection.

Bare with us.  We promise we really are worth it!
