Fabulous Friday

We have been looking forward to a weekend of rest and relaxation after the past few weeks of creating outstanding events {which will be posted as soon as images arrive in our pretty little hands!}.

In the meantime, we hope this photo brings some bridal inspiration of weddings and seasons to come...as soon as the snow melts away....

Here's to hoping your weekend is light, lovely, a bit sparkly, and always fabulous,

Silk and Sparkle...I Do! {Inspiration}

I will be the first to admit that I have not been a fan of silk flowers. Most are not well constructed and when compared to a live bloom are...well... just not real. My general rule when it comes to flowers is that if you can touch it, it should be real. But falling upon Emici Bridal, my opinions may have the ability to be swayed.

Upon first glance, there was an immediate crush. Each bouquet showcases hand cut and formed flowers from the most lovely dupioni silks, satins, and chiffon accented with rhinestones, freshwater pearls, and crystals. In an instant, this crush became a full on love story.

With prices ranging from $600-$1,300 these may create budget blowout...so search your local flea markets and Etsy to find some fantastic broaches and gems, and do some heavy homework and mock ups {I highly recommend several mock ups} for the best how to if you are so inclined...I will certainly be continuing my love affair with the New York bouquet below...Swoon.

I Am Student...Teach Me {Event}

One of the most important things you can ever do when you are in the wedding industry is continue to educate yourself to be better within your trade. Believing that the same ideas that kept you busy two years ago will get you nowhere and you will be yesterday's news faster than a bad chignon. We are proud to say that on our checklist each morning is to page through our daily assignments of homework {aka blogs, websites, and forums}. It keeps us refreshed and motivated, constantly thinking outside the box of all things wedding.

One of my biggest mentors throughout my wedding planning business has been Molly Trio of Molly's Flower Studio. Five years ago, sitting in her office with her daughter Lucy, I knew that I could learn a tremendous amount from her with her passion and attention to detail with floral arranging. Always one of the first florists I contact when working a Minneapolis {or tri-state wedding for that matter!}, I feel we work well together because we both have the same concept when it comes to flowers- let a flower be a flower and respect the bloom in its state.

Last summer I, well, begged Molly to let me help her with an event. Any event. My guess is she was pretty sick of my emails, so she let me tag along for three weddings. In one day. A florists dream? Or an organizing nightmare? It ended up pretty darn fabulous, if I say so myself. And the fact that she trusted me enough to assist was, well, just fabulous. I will let the photos speak for themselves...

The photos above are from the lovely Nicollet Pavilion, photo love by the ever talented LaVie Photography...

A landmark for many a beautiful weddings- The Lafayette Club...three different centerpeices, fun cocktail tables, and a grand entrance. Such fun creating with Molly!

Fabulous Friday

Ooh, it has been a whirlwind these past few weeks. Sometimes with all the daily things to do, we forget that we need to take time for us. As we plan for a truly spectacular Wedding Event this weekend, we encourage you to throw on your most spectacular dress, throw caution to the wind, and let your hair down in Paris...even if just in your dreams.

Here's to hoping your weekend is light, lovely, a bit sparkly, and always fabulous,

*Lisa

The Key to 2011

2010 was a year of unbelievable year for us.

Within the past ten months we left our home in Minneapolis, relocated our family back to our roots, opened a boutique, added a beautiful little boy to our family, created some amazingly beautiful weddings and corporate events, and became the 'football mom' all while coordinating linen swatches and CAD layouts. It has been a busy, busy year.

Challenging? Yes. Exciting? Of course. Scary? Beyond belief.

What I do know is that 2010 was the year that I pushed myself harder professionally than I ever thought I could. While many would think that being your own boss means easy, being your own CEO/bookkeeper/marketing/advertising/staff is hardly a cake walk. And sometimes, being your own cheerleader is even harder. But there is always a silver lining...

We have taken every potential client that has walked into our boutique as an opportunity. An opportunity to teach Brides that it is OKAY to think outside the box, an opportunity to educate our clients on what a planner can do for their wedding day, and an opportunity to build relationships that will grow far beyond the event day. Yes, 2010 was the year of opportunity...and the key to 2011.

2011 is looking to new growth. Changes. Adventure. And we are inviting you along for the ride. We simply cannot wait for all that is to come in 2011.

To those that have supported this journey...a heartfelt 'Thank You' is hardly enough. To those that are starting this journey with us- whether it be along the planning process or just reading our blog- get ready. It's going to be a fabulous year.
