vera (need i say more?)

i was browsing through some of my favorite designer's collections, and though we have just started summer here in minnesota, i simply could not wait weeks to post these favorite dresses from vera wang's fall collection.

vera's designs continue to show color and i absolutely love when a bride takes a chance with something such as color for themselves! vera's designs celebrate the modern bride and i am always excited to see what comes each season.

ps- i am totally digging the color of dress versus bloom in this last pic...simply stunning!

"just get me a really big closet..."

as quite the girly girl, my heart did a little pitter patter when i saw this dress.

first off, i absolutely love sjp and her sense of style. 'smart people' was a great movie and 'lovely' is yummy enough to bathe in...

when i saw this dress prior to the arrival of the movie in cinema, i gasped. now granted the gasp was in the middle of a sip of diet coke so i was a little more consumed with raising my hands above my head for air; but by looking at this dress my flailing arms could have been a dance of excitement for vivianne westwood.

to get you in the mood for june...

nothing quite says june to me like peonies. hands down these are next to my favorite flower (which is orchid for those of you that are a bit curious!).
i fell in love with these flowers when i would visit my grandparents. other than freaking out about those crawly things called ants, i fell in love with the texture not only of a full bloom but of the bulb itself.
to this day, my grandpa still lets me know how the peonies are doing and will cut me a bloom from time to time when they are in prime season. he is quite the charmer!
this pic however, comes from my most favorite florist in the minneapolis area, molly trio. her vision is amazing and the most detailed florist i have come to work with in quite some time. you can find visions of her sugarplums (that dance in her head) and other lush blooms on her website at http://www.mollysflowerstudio.com/
thank you molly for the inspiration for june!!!

what inspires you.

people often ask me what inspires me when i start thinking about design and production for a wedding.

to be honest, it will come to me in the oddest moments. it may be the way a certain coffee bean smells, or the texture of a linen. it can be the certain fleck of red in my daughter's hair or the smallest wrinkle around my grandpa's eye.

movement inspires me. color hugely inspires. it can be the way a bride tells me how she loves the colour of a dum dum watermelon lollipop or how she has 13 christmas trees in her house year round.

inspiration comes in the moments when you least expect it and that is when production transforms.

it becomes less about how to finagle 12 vendors into one loading zone and more about how guests will have their 'ah-ha' moment in knowing that the couple left each guest a personalized note at their place setting. it's about having the bride's grandfather wear the tie he wore on his wedding day as he gives her away. it's the fabric of the tie that inspires and the moment that captures.

moments such as these are what drive my passion. they are what make 13 pages of detail so amazingly fab. this is what makes me say i absolutely have the best gig in the world.

annikka + pete

annikka + pete are just one of those couples that you really enjoy working with. calm and quiet, reserved and always smiling, you can see that they are clearly in love. this february wedding was filled with warmth (even with the brutal minnesota winter surrounding us), children, and great music.
amazing location. classic elements. pure love.

caterer: damico

fab photog: la vie photography
(sally is a rockstar*)

thank you annikka + pete for letting me be a part of your day...
